Inauguration -Bachelor of Education Honours in Primary Education 2025/2026

The Faculty of Education, University of Colombo, ceremonially inaugurated the Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education Programme for the Academic Year 2025/2026 on 16th February 2026 at ELH 01. The event commenced at 9.00 a.m. with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by the National Anthem and a cultural performance.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Samudra Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Education. The gathering was further enriched by addresses from Prof. (Chair) Manjula Vithanapathirane and the Chief Guest, Prof. Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo. Senior university officials, including the Senior Student Counsellor and the Deputy Chief Marshal, also addressed the new entrants, highlighting academic expectations and student welfare services.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a comprehensive orientation programme designed to familiarize students with academic structures, university facilities, student support services, and mentoring programmes. The Faculty warmly welcomes the new cohort and wishes them a successful and enriching academic journey.
