4th International Research Symposium at the Faculty of Education, University of Colombo: Pioneering a Sustainable Future Through Educational Research
The Faculty of Education, University of Colombo, hosted its 4th International Research Symposium on November 29, 2024, under the theme “Building a Sustainable Future Through Impactful Educational Research.” This annual academic gathering brought together researchers, educators, and policymakers to explore innovative educational strategies aligning with the global sustainability drive. This year’s theme underscores the pivotal role of educational research in addressing global challenges, inequality, technological advancement, educational management, educational psychology, curriculum development, and aesthetic and language education. The symposium aimed to inspire actionable solutions to build a sustainable future by fostering dialogue and sharing insights.

The symposium was inaugurated by Dr. Kapila Bandara, Dean of the Faculty of Education, who emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability into educational paradigms. Prof. Piotr Nawakowski delivered a thought-provoking keynote address from Rzeszów University, Poland, who highlighted the transformative power of education in achieving sustainable development goals

The symposium featured the presentation of 39 abstracts and 70 poster presentations, covering diverse topics ranging from inclusive education and digital learning innovations to eco-friendly teaching methodologies. These presentations showcased cutting-edge research by scholars, including MPhil and PhD students from various institutions and disciplines.

The success of the symposium was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the organizing committee, chaired by Dr Lanka Wedikandage and co-chaired by Ms Udeshini Perera, with Ms Imesha Kinkini serving as the Symposium Secretary.
